Lisa Castro, MSW, MBA, LCSWS

Lisa CastroLisa A. Castro, MSW, MBA, LCSWS is a Licensed Clinical Social Work Supervisor and founder of NewHouston Psychotherapy, who moved to Houston with her family from New York City in 2008.  Lisa focused her early work on families and children, first as a counselor and then, as the Deputy Director of a Family Center in a Rehabilitation Program.   In her postgraduate work at New York Presbyterian Hospital of Cornell University, Lisa practiced individual and group psychotherapy under the direction some of the top names in Psychiatry and Psychology.   Since moving to Texas, Lisa obtained her MBA in Healthcare Administration and has worked extensively in psychiatry and substance abuse leadership roles as the Executive Director of Clinical Services and COO at top area psychiatric hospitals.   She has been active in creating community partnerships with MHMRA and The Houston Police Department to provide treatment and hope for the chronically mentally ill and she led efforts in Katy ISD to train all teachers in Suicide Prevention Awareness.  Recently, Lisa has taken the lead in transforming Lifeway International Houston into the area’s first and only comprehensive substance abuse treatment program providing a continuum of services that last between 18 months and 4 years.  She continues her practice at NewHouston psychotherapy where she provides counseling and supervision.

At NewHouston, Lisa specializes in working with children, adolescents, and families to increase positive communication, improve school performance, address issues with peers and self esteem, and manage depression and anxiety.
